Artist, Julie Burney, makes her home nestled on a ridge in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Born in Paris, Tennessee, she grew up with the ever-present accompaniment of her most enthusiastic fan, her grandmother.
Lillie Jane McAdams Jeter Walker is for whom these fanciful pieces are named, and is also somewhat of a muse. Many of the manifestations of Julie's mind are an attempt to embody the spirit of Lillie Jane. Lillie Jane and Friends is a collection of whimsically painted characters, some of which are renderings of people Julie has come to know, whereas others are her creation. As her brush dances madly about, they flow from its bristles.
Since leaving the hospital in Paris, Julie has had a love for color. From the fibers that make up her apparel, to the colors that adorn every wall she has owned, this adoration is ever present. She attended the school of interior design, at the University of Tennessee, and never once walked to the beat of another. After graduating, she married an Architect, and they began work in Huntsville. She gave birth and stayed home to care for her son, and remained home until both he and her second had surpassed the age of 10. She is now an art teacher in her home of Chattanooga, and creates masterpieces in her spare time.
